Many of us make New Year’s Resolutions, and these are often focused around fitness. Whether it be building muscle or losing weight, sitting in the office can make those goals hard to achieve. We care about fitness too, so we tried out 3 awesome fitness gadgets to stay active at your desk! Make your New Year's Resolution reality with our top 3 favorite fitness gadgets for the office!

Recently, I’ve spent some time sitting on a stability ball chair at my desk. In my experience, it's just more comfortable than a plain jane office chair. But more importantly, when I sit in a chair, I don't really sit... I lounge and I lean back. My body will relax into the armrests and remain that way for hours. We all know that sitting at your desk all day isn't very good for your body, and bad posture is even worse for your back and spine. What I like about this chair is that its an awesome hybrid between the usual office chair and a stability ball from the gym. It forces me to sit upright, rather than slouching back. It’s more comfortable than the average chair and more affordable than a normal office chair too! Plus, it’s a cool and unique touch to my office. During meetings or consultations, it's even a great conversation starter!

Some people are saying that “sitting is the new smoking”... That may be a little extreme, but sitting all day does have health risks. Too much sitting can be bad for mental and physical health. And, after all, lack of exercise is among the 10 leading risk factors for death in the United States. Considering these facts, we’ve been experimenting with a standing desk as well! When we first got it, my body totally protested! I found myself wanting to sit back down quickly. It feels odd to stand and type at the computer; we’re creatures of habit! I could feel my back hurting and my legs complaining. However, it only took a few days to feel my body transition. Now, I find myself with MORE energy when I use the standing desk! Since I cant lounge and let myself be lazy, I don't get the afternoon sleepiness that I sometimes suffer from. Overall, the standing desk has been good to me, and I truly feel it has made me more productive when I take advantage of it!

I’ve also recently been gifted a desk cycle for Christmas! This is my favorite exercise gadget of 2019, hands down! There are lots of desk bikes on the market, but most are cheap, too tall for your desk, or super loud! This one changed all of that for me! It’s quite low to the ground, so my knees don’t smack my desk when I use it. Also, it’s super quiet. I can lightly use it during phone calls, and the other person doesn't even notice! My favorite thing about it is the calorie counter on the front. It’s so easy to use that when I check the calorie counter at the end of the day, I’m always surprised to find out I’ve burned somewhere between 500 and 800 calories!

Keeping in shape when you have to work can be difficult. We hope you try out at least one of these workout gadgets! If you do, we're sure at least one of them will 'work out' nicely!
